Laser Hair Removal – permanent for PCOS sufferers?

Hi
I suffer from PCOS and like many other sufferers, very excessive hair growth on my face :-(
I am only 23 and this problem is getting worse and worse – The hair is sooo coarse and dark that it cant be waxed or bleached so for the past 4 years I have had to resort to shaving every day … as you can imagine, this has knocked my confidence and is starting to really effect my life.
My GP referred me to a specialist who perscribed me Vagiqua cream – but this has not helped!
I am considering investing in laser hair removal (Im not sure its available on th NHS??) as I have read that the results are permanent ….
Does any one else suffer the same thing and have you tried laser hair removal?
If so what has your experience been?

Look forward to hearing from you xxx

Helen seems to have electrolysis confused with laser hair removal. LHR is definitely the way to go. I’ve had it done all over my body, and life is good, never having to be concerned with unwanted hair ever again! Yes, I highly recommend LHR to everyone who is able.

Carol asks…

has anyone tried the permanent laser hair removal? does it have any side effects??

Editor answers:

I had it done on my neck and chest and had great results. The hair is still gone 6 years later. The riskiest side effect is if you tan between treatments you can get a burn because the laser will interact with the melanin in your skin.

Make sure to go someone qualifed so that you are not over or under treated. The attached sites have more information and a directory of certified providers.

Donald asks…

Is laser hair removal actually permanent?

And if not, is there anything that is?

Editor answers:

Laser hair removal procedure is proven for hair reduction up to 90%. Hair regrowth is often finer and lighter in color.
Electrolysis on the other hand has been proven to permanently remove hair but this procedure can be painful and its success lies greatly on the expertise of the technician.
